Description

These cast iron helicopter tie-down points are suitable for securing in concrete, ashore; they are not suitable for use on a shipboard heliport.

With no moving parts, once secured in concrete, these tie-downs are simple to operate by securing one end of a helicopter lashing to the horizontal bar and the other end to the helicopter.

Made from ductile cast iron (ASTM A-536), each tie-down weighs around 5.3 kg (11.5 lb) and has been tested to over 10 tonnes (23,300 lbs), without deflection.  Actual capacity depends on many local installation factors, including:

  •  Concrete strength
  •  Rebar strength (if used) and design
  •  Angle of pull from the fitting to the load

There is a stake/grounding hole in the bottom and rebar holes in the sides.  Grounding rods are not included.

See HPT-07107 for the version with an estimated capacity of 4.0t (9,000 lb).

Installation Guidance

  •  Fill the mooring point with sand, to keep concrete out during the pour
  •  6,000 psi concrete is recommended
  •  The side rebar holes can be utilised as per the direction of the project engineer
  •  The bottom hole is square, to keep the mooring point from displacing during the pour
  •  The square hole can be used either:
    •  With a stake to bring the mooring point to grade, or
    •  It can be used to install a grounding rod (grounding rods are not included)
  •  The mooring point can also be pressed into the concrete, after the pour
