Description
Lance (FFE-05018)
Our extendable, telescopic CO2 lance is designed to protect stationary aircraft against outbreaks of fire during engine start-up. This lance is suitable for supporting helicopter operations on shipboard heliports.
The lance has a telescopic tube made from anodized aluminium, which extends from 1.8 m to 3.6 m (approx.). The applicator is extended by turning the knurled collar anti-clockwise and extending the tube, by hand, to the required length. The nozzle can be directed to the correct alignment, relative to the control valve at the base of the lance, and then the collar can be re-tightened by turning it clockwise. The outer main tube has a sleeve to protect the operator’s hands from the effects of cold on discharge of the CO2.
Operation of the unit is simple. A trigger valve is fitted near the base of the lance’s outer tube, which is spring-loaded to the closed position. The valve is operated by simply squeezing the trigger towards the tube.
The discharge head has a slotted nozzle with a circular back plate and a 3-way adaptor, with blank plugs fitted, giving the operator a choice of vertical, horizontal and 45o direction of discharge. The nozzle can be inserted into an engine bay, through the fire access panel, with the back plate forming a cover over the panel to minimize the extent to which the discharged gas can escape from the engine bay. There is also a conical discharge horn which can be screwed on to the discharge head for dealing with other types of fire (e.g. a spill fire on the ground).
Hose (FFE-05019)
CO2 hoses are an essential element when using different types of devices, such as our extendable, telescopic CO2 lance and other systems that must be connected to CO2 cylinders. Our professional quality hoses are manufactured in the UK and are designed to exceed the 200 bar pressure that the CO2 operates at. All our high-pressure hoses come with CO2 cylinder connector included as standard. The hose is finger tightened and then secured with a spanner.
