Description
When operating helicopters to shipboard heliports and offshore helidecks, the Helicopter Landing Officer needs to be clearly identifiable by the helicopter pilot(s) as the person in charge. CAP 437 (the standards document for helicopter landing areas on offshore oil & gas facilities) states that the preferred method of identification for the HLO, is a brightly coloured ‘HLO’ tabard.
This Hi-Vis HLO Vest complies with the CAP 437 requirement and also conforms to ISO 20471 Class 1 Superior standards. To make the vest more flexible for use, the HLO patches are removable. The patches are fixed to the vest using secure Velcro® to prevent them becoming loose during helicopter operations.
The vest has been tailored be a more comfortable, every day waistcoat with deeper arm holes, providing great access to the two front pockets; it also has a contoured fit around the hips. It is made from 100% polyester, with coloured trim and high visibility reflective tape. The vest should aways be worn with the front zip fastened. The vest is made from recycled polyester and is not flame or fire resistant.
We also supply Hi-vis vests for Heliport Deck Assistants and Helideck Assistants (HDA); see PPE-0943.
